Meditative Focus is a term which incorporates the concepts of the Psionic Focus segment of the Concentration Skill referenced on page 37 of the Expanded Psionics Handbook, also available online. As such, these two terms should be considered synonymous in effect, purpose, use, etc.

In this case, merely holding a spell in the mind gives divine and arcane caster characters a special energy. These characters can put that energy to work without actually using a spell or power - they can become Focused as a special use of the Concentration Skill.

Focus is broken into subschools:
Arcane Focus
Divine Focus
Psionic Focus

You can only have one focus at any one time.

Regaining a focus has a Concentration DC of 20, and requires a full-round action that provokes attacks of opportunity.

When you are focused, you can expend your focus on any single Concentration check you make thereafter. When you expend your focus in this manner, your Concentration check is treated as if you rolled a 15. It's like taking 10, expect that the number you add to your Concentration modifier is 15. You can also expend your focus to gain the benefit of certain feats.

Once you are focused, you remain focused until you expend your focus, become unconscious, or go to sleep (or enter meditative trance or revereies, in the case of elves and elans), or until your power point reserve drops to 0 or you no longer are capable of casting a spell for the desires focus.

FEATS:
Characters capable of obtaining a Focus, may select any of those feats already published, which require the expenditure of a focus. In such cases, Psionic/magic transparency takes place, where Psionic Focus is equal to the Subset Focus obtained. Meditation is revised insofar as the Prerequisite is concerned, as below.
