Default The Rules of Character Creation (CoD)

So, you want to be a Gladiator - better read this first.

Circle of Death is a multiplayer gladiatorial-styled play-by-post / chat-host hybrid RPG, using the 3.5 D20 ruleset. A lot to swallow? Keep reading. As a member of DNDGamer.com, you can submit a Gladiator of your very own. Matches are scheduled for all the active gladiators and carried out on-site. In the meantime, why not hone your talents in the Gauntlet, or - better yet - get some one-on-one sparring with other Gladiators. All this, even Challenge Duels, can be carried out by Chat.

    COD 3.5 PC Creation Rules
    1. Characters to be posted on the "Gladiators" board.
    2. All Characters start at level 5.
    3. Ability scores: Each gladiator has 76 points to spend (on a 1-to-1 basis) with minimum score of 8 and a maximum of 18 per ability before adjusting for race, age and any other relevant modifiers. (don't forget to add the level 4 ability raise, for a total of 77 pre-racial)
    4. Each player is allowed 2 Gladiators to start, plus 1 more for each tournament you complete. If you wish more than your alloted # of characters an old one must be deleted. XP, money and any magic items previously won cannot be passed between your characters. You may only be each class once, no two of your Gladiators can share a class.
    5. 200GP Starting Gold, despite your PC Level. Equipment can be bought from the books listed and can be bought whenever you have enough money (or they can be stolen in battle). Money, if applicable, will be awarded upon winning. (be sure to check the classifieds for cheap gear.)
    6. Character sheets must include ALL details.
    7. Races may be selected from any of the sources listed but must be of ECL+1 or lower.
    8. Character Hit Points are MAX at EACH LEVEL
    9. Information from the SRD must match the books allowed, listed below.
    10. The following books can be used:
      • Complete Series
      • Dungeon Master's Guide
      • Expanded Psionics Handbook
      • Player's Handbook
      • Player's Handbook II
      • Spell Compendium
      • Magic Item Compendium
      • SRD(no you cannot be divine Gimble :p)
    11. The CoD Overseer (Currently Atarihero) has the final word in all things.

Ok, so after some discussion from the new DMs we have decided not to change the creation rules and allow PHB2.

Those of you with previously approved Gladiators can forgo any further alterations and keep your eligibility.

Those that want to make minor changes to their Gladiators should post the original sheet and the alterations to your PC sheet thread, and then make the alterations to the 1st post. A DM will then re-approve your new configuration.

Those of you who wish to create new Gladiators must 1st post your intentions for your old one. If you wish to archive it, or save it to use as your 2nd Gladiator once you complete a tournament. Once your intentions have been posted to the old Gladiator, you can then create a new thread for your new guy and inform a DM when it’s ready for approval.

Remember that each player is only allowed each class once among all their Gladiators.

Note: For each tournament you complete, you will be allowed to create an additional Gladiator.

    CoD 2.0 is here!

The following changes have been made to the CoD creation rules:

The entire Complete Series is allowed now, as is the Magic Item Compendium.

    Max HP for all levels.

    2 Gladiators allowed at start.

What does this mean for current Gladiators?

Since the Creation choices have vastly changed now, this is a one-time chance to alter any aspect of any Gladiator with the following stipulations:

No Name, Racial, or Class changes. Equipment can be sold at ½ price back to the arena (this is a 1-time offer as normally you can only sell old gear in the Classified section)

DO NOT ALTER YOUR CURRENT GLADIATOR!!! Instead make a new thread in the section labeled Gladiators 2.0 All Gladiators must do this to be 2.0 eligible.
