Prologue: Is it My Turn to Hold the Gun Yet? (Solo for Kate)

Kate runs back towards the body searching them all

Kate quickly searches all the bodies. She does not find any sort of papers, but finds enough Drachman money to be equivalent to 2,000s. In addition, she finds an earring, which looks to be made of gold and is embedded with a gem in one of the soldiers ears.

"there is nothing much over here Sir, whats the next step?" she yells over to the sergent standing over the bodies

The Sergeant returns, two of the Privates holding the Drachman Soldier beside them. 'Don't shout, Private. There could be more of them within hearing distance. Lets head back to camp now, before any more of them come along.'

He orders the group to resume marching northward.

Kate follows behind back to camp. and counts backwards from 20. 20, 19, 18, 17, 16, 15, 14, 13, 12, 11, 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1, 0. trying to waste more time on the way there she counts the rocks on the road.... 1, 2, 3, 4, 5... etc... h

The Sergeant led on the march, loyal subordinates following close behind. There would be a lot of 'storytelling' to be done when the group got back to camp.

After a fair walk through the cold of the Amestrian North, Kate found herself among the northern encampment that she had been marching toward the entire time. The tents were camouflaged grey and white, creating the illusion the the tents were snow covered rocks, or patchy ice, or the like. Though the tents were camouflaged, the soldiers and officers were not. Despite the wintry white environment, every soldier and officer wore their usual blue outfit, which stood out drastically against the snow. Needless to say, most remained inside their tents.

Occasionally, an important looking field officer would walk by, a large grey woolen overcoat worn over their uniform. It was likely that every soldier had a heavy blanket in their tents to use to keep warm, but only the officers were provided the luxury of remaining warm at all times.

The Sergeant lead the group, weaving through the various tents, until he came across the one that he apparently had been looking for. He told the group to remain outside. Entering, a shuffle of clothing (hinting that a salute was made) and murmurs were exchanged briefly. After a few moments of waiting, the Sergeant emerged from the tent and lead the group to another tent.

'Alright, this is the tent for the squadron. Go on in and make yourselves at home, privates. I'll be back later to detail you on what exactly is going on.'
The Sergeant left, expecting the group to enter and make what home they could out of the tent that was before them.

Kate walks into the tent looking around, she finds a bed immediately and lays down on it putting all her stuff down, looking at the others she asks "so tell me about yourselfs"

Kate entered the tent to find that it was quite warmer than expected. Several privates were already in there, passing the time with small tasks. Two privates sat on their bedrolls, racing each other to see who could disassemble their rifle, reassemble it, fill an empty magazine, and then load it the fastest. Now that the two groups had merged, there was a total of nine privates in the tent, including Kate. A corporal sat on the opposite side of the tent from the entrance, on top of a sort of storage chest. He had his own rifle propped against his knee, barrel pointing downward, leaning on the stock with his shoulder. He watched the two privates racing, with boredom.

When the new group came in, he looked up, but did not shift his position. 'Well, the new recruits. Make yourselves warm,' he said, without much enthusiasm. 'Oh, and this here-' he slaps the chest below him, '-is where the food is stored. You've got to ask either me or the Sergeant if you want anything from here. Theres enough here to last us only so long, and its a tough walk back to the station to get more supplies. You can be sure that if you are the one to overeat, you'll get plenty of exercise to work it back off again.'

Kate sitting up in her bed looks around for another female in the room... as she does this she asks the others "so tell me about yourselves, better to know the people ill be working with temporarly"

As the privates continued their gun race, the corporal looked back up at Kate. 'Corporal Wilfried, here. Been around in the Amestrian military for about a few months now. Promotions are fast and common out here, where superiors get killed off very easily. Don't be surprised if you go home a Sergeant Major yourself, Kate.' He did not seem emotional in any way, boredom being the only thing displayed on his face. Maybe the excitement of front-line work had started to really make everything else seem boring...

A tall, thin man held up his own hand. 'Private Fritz.' He did not say much else about himself. He had a series of grenades at his side, more than anyone else in the whole room had. He bore a shotgun strapped onto his back, apparently his weapon of choice. A shorter man, who sat beside him, with his hair combed back waved his arm in the air. 'Well, I'm Private Oskar.' He had a strange dexterous grace to the way he moved his hand. He had a pistol on his side, in an easy to reach place. His rifle was strapped on his back, but it was strapped so well that it seemed like he never even planned on using it.

'Private Lothar' piped up a man laying on his bedroll almost lazily. An older looking bolt-action rifle was laying beside him, and it bore an expensive looking scope attachment on the top of it. His hand laid upon it, as if he found it very precious to him. A strong, gruff looking man also voiced that his name was Private Gunther. The gun he held looked like it was pretty powerful; a Thompson M1921 to be exact. His military uniform was open, revealing a vest with many pouches underneath.

The two who were racing introduced themselves as Privates Hartwin and Moritz. They did not pay much attention to Kate, too busy with their little gun race. The guns they had were precisely the same as Kate's in make, Springfields. Yet another male fiddled with his own gun too, but did not race to disassemble it like the others. He took it apart bit by bit, and looked at each piece carefully. 'I'm Private Friedrich. I'm hoping to one day become an engineer in the Amestrian military... science has always fascinated me, but alchemy has never been my thing.'

Finally, Kate's eyes land on the only other female within the squad. She seemed somewhat shy in speech, but her face looked as hardened and determined as any male's face could be. 'I'm Private Viktoria. I'm planning on working hard until I can become a true medic.' Indeed, she had a first aid kit at her side, but thats about all that she had that designated her as a medic-in-training.

The group seemed quite varied. It was apparent that this squad was built around the fact that each of the soldiers had a unique ability, and would probably be able to function as an independent unit all on its own. Kate's keen military eyes, however, was able to see something important: nine privates to one corporal. This was not normal; the ratio was typically three to five privates per corporal....
