Dice roll with 15 dices of 20 faces: 204 points

Last 5 are for the emergency exit/plank/transmutation circle/random/random

He'll take his sweet time in doing all of this.

    Roll 16 - Forming Wood - +7
    Roll 17 - Fusing Wood - +7
    Roll 18 - Fusing Wood - +7
    Roll 19 - Fusing Wood - +7
    Roll 20 - Fusing Wood - +7
    Roll 21 - Fusing Wood - +7
    Roll 22 - Fusing Wood - +7
Roll 23 - Fusing and Shaping Final Piece - +7

    Roll 24 - Separating Wood - +7
    Roll 25 - Fire Circle +7
    Roll 26 - Emergency Exit +7

26-30...guess just ignore unless you need some random rolls. <!-- / message --><!-- sig -->

    Roll 4 failed
    Roll 14 failed
    Roll 26 failed
(no backfire rules yet, luckily, so they just didn't activate)
Roll 29 will be second attempt at 4 - success
Roll 30 will be second attempt at 19 - success
Roll (LG) will be second attempt at 26 - success

The hut was finished, chalky remains of expended circles all over.

Returning to slumber once more (suppose Karin didn't like the military 'takeover'?), this session of sleep was much more peaceful. He awoke in the morning to his quiet hut.

Karin will spend an hour in study over the book he found. His next course of action will depend upon whether he can understand the text or not.

After seeing that the book has alchemical drawings in it, Karin prepares for the day.

He'll work until the sun gets higher in the sky (till it starts warming up). Once its hot, he'll let it be and rest for the rest of the day, working again when it cools down.

First - He marks the spot he found the book (using a railroad tie or something).

Second - He searches for animals (trails of snakes or lizards, watches for birds, etc.). The goal is to follow them to water.

Take 20 - Should be possible from my reading of the survival skill.

Third - He'll prepare a back entry for the hut, by making a tunnel of wood out the back, winding it around the dune. The tunnel will be sealed from the inside, with a third railroad tie (shape it, fuse it to the tunnel end, and ready an un-fusing circle on it on the inside)

Fourth - He'll then start covering the tunnel and hut with sand to improve insulation and coolness (hence why I wanted it next to the big dune).

Fifth - If possible (since you all are mentioning it in IRC), he'll make water alchemically by drawing the molecules from the air.

I figure this will take two days, and about 26 alchemical checks.

When he has a nice, insulated place to sleep, and has found a way to get water, he'll start digging. Using the railroad ties and wood, he'll make a shovel, and get to work.

I'll assume transmute solid - So +7 for the 2-3 checks needed to make the shovel.

    Sixth - Start digging.

Seventh - He'll do 1-2 pages of the book per night.

Eighth - If he does find a water hole, he may start hunting soon too.

I need to know how many days travel (ish) I am into the desert? So I can ration my way out.

Taking his time, with no distractions or dangers...so I assume no auto-fail.

Shaping wood as follows...basically 2 ft. by 2 ft. by 2 ft (see the diagram below, where the underscore and slashes are the sides).

    --___
    -/----\
    /------\

It'll be 2 inches thick, and 42 inches in length per section, giving me about 42 ft. worth of tunnel.

    1 - Shape wood for tunnel - Trans: S +7 = 27
    2 - Shape wood for tunnel - Trans: S +7 = 9
    3 - Shape wood for tunnel - Trans: S +7 = 8
    4 - Shape wood for tunnel - Trans: S +7 = 13
    5 - Shape wood for tunnel - Trans: S +7 = 13
    6 - Shape wood for tunnel - Trans: S +7 = 22
    7 - Shape wood for tunnel - Trans: S +7 = 19
    8 - Shape wood for tunnel - Trans: S +7 = 20
    9 - Shape wood for tunnel - Trans: S +7 = 22
    10 - Shape wood for tunnel - Trans: S +7 = 13
    11 - Shape wood for tunnel - Trans: S +7 = 18
    12 - Shape wood for tunnel - Trans: S +7 = 8
    13 - Shape wood for tunnel (backup) - Trans: S +7 = 15
    14 - Shape wood for tunnel (backup) - Trans: S +7 = 26
    15 - Shape wood for tunnel (backup) - Trans: S +7 = 24

    And again,

Wrong dice value - See Post 37 for rolls

    1 - Shape wood for tunnel - Trans: S +7 = 27
    2 - Shape wood for tunnel - Trans: S +7 = 9
    3 - Shape wood for tunnel - Trans: S +7 = 26
    4 - Shape wood for tunnel - Trans: S +7 = 11
    5 - Shape wood for tunnel - Trans: S +7 = 8
    6 - Shape wood for tunnel - Trans: S +7 = 17
    7 - Shape wood for tunnel - Trans: S +7 = 14
    8 - Shape wood for tunnel - Trans: S +7 = 22
    9 - Shape wood for tunnel - Trans: S +7 = 12
    10 - Shape wood for tunnel - Trans: S +7 =12
    11 - Shape wood for tunnel - Trans: S +7 = 14
    12 - Shape wood for tunnel - Trans: S +7 = 16
    13 - Shape wood for tunnel - Trans: S +7 = 27
    14 - Shape wood for tunnel - Trans: S +7 = 23

Sealing the tunnel, taking time, auto success x 12

    15 - Forming the exit - Trans: S + 7 = 10

It seems that 4 was really 3, and so forth through the entire roll set, with an extra water roll resulting.

    You need the water, anyways.

Succeeding fully on his hut making, Karin manages to infuse the hydrogen and oxygen in the air, to make water. He must have hit a gold mine of elements -- though water is made up of very common elements -- as he had managed to produce 6 gallons of water (3 successful uses of the trick x 2 gallons each).

(I hope Karin has containers suitable to contain the water? That is nearly 50 pounds of water. It is created as rain, but can be forced so that the hydrogen and oxygen fuse within a bottle to produce water. It can also be made to make water directly so that it rains straight into your mouth. Any effects that may normally occur {explosions etc} do not occur as part of the alchemy effect, as it is specialized fusing. One may not be so lucky on a failure however).

The production of the shovel is also successful. It is not the most beautiful of creations, and feels a bit loose around the headpiece, but despite looking like it has already seen much use (old metal does that), it is still solid enough for usage.

Note: Survival check seems very possible. You can theoretically track a fly through the sand.

The 1-2 pages will need appropriate decipher checks. All of the transmutation can be completed with 16 hours. Imitating a trick that normally creates food may also work, too.

It is a three day hike to Amestris, but four if you move to avoid Ishbal. It is only two days to Xing, but what you may find there is unknown.

Karin does know that the book deals with alchemy, and is around 60 pages big.

Technically you make the rolls for the decipher script skill check (both the skill check and the wisdom check). That way I don't know if I did 'good' or 'bad.'

Let me know about that, and I'll post about killing some poor desert animal later...I have a plan.
