My system for awarding xp will differ slightly from how I've done it previously. In order to make it easier for me, I've made it more streamlined.
Players will receive xp based upon the quality of their role-playing and the number of posts. The former is rewarded heavily, the later only a little. Bare-boned posts won't be rewarded at all. Now, since each post gets a rp reward, a player with many posts and really good role-playing will rack up the xp. However, a player with good rp but only a few posts won't receive as much, even though he's doing a great job role-playing.
Next, there is a story reward based upon the progress each character is making toward advancing on a plot line. This reward is based upon a character's contribution, so if the rest of the group is asking all the probing questions or doing the grunt work, a character may not receive much here. At this point, the story reward was based mostly on investigative work as that's what everyone's been doing pretty much.
