Exclamation Proposed changes for CoD Creation rules (Vote required)

Proposed changes for CoD Creation rules (Vote required)

Adding Magic Item Compendium, Complete Scoundrel, Complete Mage, and Complete Champion to the allowed sources (effectively completing the complete series).

Going to Max HP at all levels. More blood, less math, more robust Gladiators.

Please select the option(s) you agree with.

Note: These changes will not be in effect before the next Tourney start. (well maybe the Full HP one, we'll see)

The fact that MIC has many (cheap) items with 'n times per day' abilities needs some looking into, I think. It might upset the balance, for instance when all those charges are used up in the single encounter that is a CoD tournament.

    Just trying to be helpful.

Will we get to retrofit our existing characters using the new list of allowed books? Or would this only apply to new gladiators created after enactment?

In hindsight, I'd have to agree with Glims discernment. Fact is, the standard PC is supposedly designed to handle multiple encounters in a single campaign-day. In CoD, that's often alliviated, enabling everyone to enter every battle, fresh. Sure - there are exceptions (hence the use of Often in lieu of Always). Regardless, I like the idea of allowing a more complete library to coincide with what's being used throughout many continuous campaigns.

Thus, I split my vote 4-ways. LOL

4 specifically. Though these are supposed to be CR equivalent encounters not battles vs equal Gladiators(a much harder task).

As in CoD. Different tourneys have different # of battles per days. And as for charged items it wouldn't matter, each day you regain all your possessions at full, so any charges spent will be restored the next day. (this goes for wands, scrolls, potions, expendable items, etc...). Remember you don't own your items in CoD, you are alloted a manifest of allowed items which the CoD provides for you every day.

Balance is not an issue since everyone has access to the same items, earnings permitting, and no one has enough money to completely unbalance the battles with uber-items (well no one but Tork ). Nothing in MiC 'cheaper' than a feather-whip token (which in CoD would be multi-use).

If any items become too much of a problem I'll just ban it, though most likely I'd just make tournaments that overcome/exploit such strengths and weaknesses.

Oh: And there will be a method by which you can 'upgrade' current Gladiators who are NOT involved in an active tourney.
